| Police kills one Maoist and recovers cache of arms and ammunition | |

Description: Khunti, May 23 (ANI): Police in Khunti district of Jharkhand gunned down one Maoist and seized a large cache of arms and ammunitions along with uniforms during the gun battle with the rebels belonging to the Peoples liberation front of India (PLFI) group. The police received information in the morning that some members of the PLFI were sitting near a road and were plotting. A patrolling unit comprising ten members was dispatched to a nearby Siyankel village and they spotted seven to eight members of the PLFI group. Superintendent of police, Khunti, M Tamil Vanan said that after the shootout, the body of the Maoist was recovered. Description: Gopiballavpur, May 22 (ANI): Road construction and repair work in Gopiballavpur, West Bengal has been halted due to Maoist threat in the area. Locals' residing in the Maoist hit Gopiballavpur 2 block area have been seeking good roads and were promised the same, but due to the changing of the state government and Maoist threats in the area there has been no work on the roads which are in a pitiable state for the last 2 years. Villagers of Ghoroindanga, Kochra, Malincha, Akna and many other villages in the vicinity face a similar problem of pitiable condition of roads. Description: Jharkhand, May 21 (ANI): Maoists hit nearly 6 persons with batons during a marriage ceremony in Gumla district of Jharkhand, after which a woman belonging to a local administrative body succumbed to her injuries, while police remained tight-lipped on the issue. Locals claimed that Maoists belonging to the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) attacked them. Maoists have significantly increased their presence in tribal and rural regions in the states of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha as well as certain parts of western Maharashtra and southern Andhra Pradesh. Description: Raipur, May 19 (ANI): Two paramilitary troopers belonging to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured after being ambushed by Maoists in a jungle area of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. The injured troopers were later shifted to a local hospital in the capital Raipur for treatment. The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Raipur district, Mukesh Khare said that both the troopers along with their party were on their way to Bijapur district of Karnataka for an anti-Maoist operation. Description: Gumla, May 19 (ANI): Police have arrested four cadres of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) who were acting as messengers of Maoists in Gumla district of Jharkhand. Talking to media persons, Inspector of Police of Gumla district, Amitesh Hussain said that the sympathizers used to pass on the police movement to their Maoist commander Sanjay Tiger. The four arrested were involved in passing on information about police activities to PLFI. The Maoists had also put up posters on the scene against Operation Green Hunt and the government. Meanwhile fearing retribution the locals are unwilling to disclose about the incident. Description: Raipur, May 18 (ANI): At least one personnel of the Special Task Force (STF) was killed, while another was critically injured during a gun battle with Maoists in. The incident took place when the security forces were on their way to Maoist hotbed Sukma for area domination when the rebels showered bullets at them triggering a gun battle. As per senior police officials the spirits of the security forces has not taken a set back as such incidents occur in the line of duty and protection of civilians.
