Iskcon monks cheer Gita verdict in Russia

Kolkata, Dec 29 (IANS) Monks of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) chanted and danced outside the Russian consulate here Thursday to celebrate the dismissal of a plea seeking ban on the Bhagavad Gita in Russia. Chanting 'Hare Krishna Hare Rama', nearly 200 monks assembled outside the Russian consulate and presented a copy of the Bhagavad Gita to a senior official of the consulate.
'We are very happy about the decision. So it was our gesture to thank them,' Iskcon official Radha Romon Das said.
A Siberian court Wednesday axed a plea seeking to ban the Bhagavad Gita in Russia and to brand the holy text 'extremist' literature.
