It's that time of the year again when we celebrate excellence and felicitate music maestros of the South Indian film industry. Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM presents the second edition of the awards to honour the achievements of the music industry through the year 2010 – The Mirchi Music Awards!! The  finale of the only award of its kind, which brings together the music fraternities of all the four South Indian language film industries – the Mirchi Music Awards, will be held in Chennai on July 23, 2011 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium. This year the music artistes from South India get a chance to win 15 awards across categories in each language. There will also be two special awards decided exclusively by Radio Mirchi listeners – Radio Mirchi Listener’s Choice awards given to “Best song of the year” and “Film album of the year” in each language. There will be two set of juries to decide the awards - a screening jury to short list the entries and a Grand Jury, with whom rests the task of finalizing the winners for each award. Each of the four south Indian languages will have separate Jury panels headed by a Chairman. The Chairmen of the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam juries are Mr. Gangai Amaran, Mr. D Suresh Babu, Mr. Hamsalekha and Mr. Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri respectively. The entire process of screening, shortlisting and selection of winners is audited by Ernst & Young. I extend my best wishes to all the artistes who are doing a great job in music and wish to reiterate that our support to them will continue in the coming years. ” Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Jury – Tamil and veteran music director Mr. Gangai Amaran, says “To begin with, Mirchi Music Awards has filled a big gap that existed in the Indian music Industry. It is surprising that a country where music lies in each and every aspect of life and which is a very big part of our films, had no platform for recognition of music. I am happy that after Radio Mirchi's efforts towards pioneering this space, more such awards recognizing music are coming up. I am happy to be associated with Mirchi Music Awards South 2010 for the 2nd year and am sure that the event will be even bigger and better than last year.
